MEDIA CAMPAIGN SERVICES Skye Wentworth Public Relations is a full service public relations company specializing in literary book publicity. Most of the services listed below are part of our standard campaign package that is offered on both a regional and national basis. Contact us to personalize your PR campaign and to request fees. Creative Planner. We'll create a central theme that allows us to smartly connect all elements of your public relations campaign -- from press releases and book signings to speaking engagements and television appearances -- and give them unification. Strategy Development. This is where we discuss potential target markets, target media, and timelines. When, how and where to break the story? We'll make these decisions together. Writing Press Releases. A minimum of 2 press releases will be written; 1 AP (Associated Press) release for print and 1 broadcast release (for radio and TV). A one-page author biography will be written to educate the media on the certain details about the author including, credentials, previous books written, related life experiences and other general information. Press Kit Development. A good press kit contains a press release that communicates the essentials, generates excitement and leaves the editor/producer wanting to know more. In addition, the press kit includes a personal cover letter, used to pitch a story, and one, some or all of the following: photo of author, author profile, review copy of the book, tip sheets, list of speaking topics, previous book reviews and other ancillary materials that quickly inform the media of the importance of your book and your qualities as an author. Package Design. We specialize in irresistible press release packaging. The entire press kit will be mailed in an attention getting, "Let's open this now!" style: something everyone wants to get his/her hands on. Media Relations. We'll target and prioritize media and contacts. This will include broadcast and print media as well as the Internet. Follow-up calls to reporters, editors and producers will encourage media to include you in their medium. We'll select a list initially and work with you on approval and/or other ideas. Shortly after our selected media contacts have received your media kit, we follow up with persuasive phone calls and emails, depending on the journalists' preferences. We provide you with feedback as we work, so you'll always be in the loop. And, of course, we maintain your PR schedule as we arrange interviews for you with top journalists from coast to coast. Author Promotion and Book Publicity Tours. When your budget allows for a multi-city book tour, we're glad to arrange in-studio interviews. And, if your business takes you to major metropolitan areas during our campaign, why not include some PR in your travel plans? Special Events. Public relations isn't simply having an article appear in print or on the air. Ancillary opportunities increase exposure and too often provide golden opportunities you won't want to pass up. These can include an active speaking agenda, seminars, contests, promotional tie-ins, -- or simply doing good deeds. INTERNET PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN I. New Book Internet Campaign. Authors want to make a big splash online around publication date. This campaign is the way to do it. Its designed to make the target audience aware that your book exists, to give people enough information to make a buying decision, and to provide an easy mechanism for consummating sales. The campaign includes: E-Mail News Release. We offer a story idea and a review copy of your book to the media. We write the release, format it for online delivery, send it to targeted online media contacts, process the responses, and provide you with a Review Copy Request Report for fulfillment and follow-up. This campaign will result in at least 15 - 20 reviews by online journalists. Giveaway File. We select an excerpt from one of your books, pad it with marketing copy, format it for online delivery, upload it to online libraries, and offer it via e-mail upon request. These files usually stay online for years. Discussion Group Posting. We write a short message introducing your book and offer to send an excerpt upon request. We post this message to approximately 7-15 online discussion groups used by your target audience, including Usenet Newsgoups, Internet Mailing Lists and America Online Forums. We process all requests for excerpts or other information, and douse any flames. We provide you with a Postings Report showing exactly where we posted your message so you can verify the postings and continue working with those groups if you want. Online Bookstore Displays. We select an excerpt from your book, a mini interview with the author and pad it with marketing copy. We then offer this page for use as a "Feature Article" at 10 web sites used by your target audience. Since most high-traffic web sites have Amazon Associate or Barnes & Noble Affiliate stores, we ask those sites to use the Feature Article in their bookstores. We provide you with a Placement Report showing where and when we requested placements. This campaign results in anywhere from one to five placements. II. CHATS. Chats are extremely popular, both with the guest (speakers) and the online audience. Its probably one of the easiest, most profitable author tours that you will ever do. For one thing, you can participate from home and secondly the audience is far-reaching. Heres what well do to make your online author tour a success: Author Profile. We will scan your photo and/or book cover and retouch them for use online. We will add a short biography, sample interview questions, a mention of your URL site, and then well pitch the profile to chat hosts. Securing Venues. We will book two chat room guest appearances on America Online and/or guest appearances on popular web chat sites. Well provide the hosts with an introductory script, biography, sample questions and artwork. Assistance We Provide. Well make sure that you have the proper software and provide you with information that you need to know in order to participate. Additionally, we provide a ghost typist for those uncomfortable with the technology. Advance Work. We send an E-mail news release promoting your chat tour to a list of people who compile Online Events calendars. We write a Discussion Group Posting announcing your chat tour or seminar and place it on appropriate discussion groups/message boards to draw an audience to your chat. Posts also serve a dual purpose by initiating dialogues about your book. Follow-up Report. When the campaign is finished, you will receive a report showing exactly where and what messages we posted on your behalf. III. SEMINARS. Online seminars can be dynamic, educational and entertaining. Using a "threaded discussion" format, seminars allow you to participate at your convenience rather than a specific time. They're a great opportunity to reach and interact with your reading audience worldwide. Seminar Description Page. We prepare pitch materials for the seminar host/partner to use on their webpage, including an introductory script, author bio, promo, artwork and excerpts from your book. Securing Partners Sites. Well book one seminar on a targeted partner website. The seminar will last five days, Monday through Friday. Conducting Seminars. For each day of the seminar, a topic for discussion will be presented along with a supporting excerpt from your book. Your partner host site will collect questions from participants all over the world and submit them to you via e-mail. The next day, participants questions and your answers to the questions will be posted on the partners website, along with a new topic for discussion. Advance Work. We send an E-mail news release promoting your seminar to a list of people who compile Online Events calendars. We write a Discussion Group Posting announcing your chat tour or seminar and place it on appropriate discussion groups/message boards to draw an audience to your chat. Posts also serve a dual purpose by initiating dialogues about your book. Follow-up Report.
